Chapter Chapter 11 in Reliability and Survival Analysis, 2019, pp 197-218 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In survival and reliability analysis, the role of Markov chain models is quite useful in solving problems where transitions are observed over time. It is very common in survival analysis that a subject suffering from a disease at a time point will recover at a later time. Similarly, in reliability, a machine may change state from nondefective to defective over time. This chapter discusses the Markov chain model, Markov chain model with covariate dependence, and Markov model for polytomous outcome data.
