Abstract:
Abstract The need of stalling the climate change becomes more vital than ever when the GHG emissions level in 2016 surged to highest peak of all the time as announced in the World Meteorological Organisation’s report. To meet the requirements of sustainable development, construction industry in Australia seems to approach toward the greener design. Green Star Environmental Rating System is one of many green building rating systems, which has been employed throughout the world. For this rating system, “Energy” and “Material life cycle impacts” categories occupy 30 over 100 points which could be achieved from eight major categories in Green Star. this paper develops a sensitive analysis to evaluate energy consumption as well as greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions based on the granted Green Star office case study to assist engineers and designers have a comprehensive visualization to sustainable projects. From that motivation, this paper will explain the way to achieve points in the above criteria in this rating tool. The model has been developed by GaBi 8.1 platforms with Visual Basic macro in Microsoft Excel, therefore it is flexible and simple to acknowledge. The model demonstrates the relationship between the utilization of energy consumption sources in building and GHG emissions released during the building lifetime. The major contributions of this paper is evaluating life-cycle environment assessment for typical types of building fabric in Australia as well as obtaining a model which can be conveniently modified to automate the calculations for other credits under the Green Star Environmental Rating System.
