Abstract: Abstract As emphasized in the 19th National People Congress of Communist Party, the construction and upgrades of new countryside have become a key task with the aim of reducing the gap between urban and rural areas in sustainable development. It is therefore urgently needed to study the energy consumption characteristics in new countryside. This study aims to investigate the current energy consumption characteristics of Qinba Mountain Area in Bazhong, Sichuan province. The status quo of energy consumptions is analyzed considering the geographical layouts and energy consumption structures. The solar energy centralized biogas system is proposed to address the present problems on energy waste, irrational energy consumption structure, defects of traditional household biogas digesters. The core idea is to develop a low-carbon, energy-efficient and comfortable living environment for rural areas. The research results indicate that solar energy centralized biogas system is of the greatest significance to the utilization of renewable energy in this region. It can help to reform the irrational energy consumption structures while minimizing the environmental burdens.
