Chapter Chapter 5 in Srinivasa Ramanujan, 2021, pp 143-160 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Ramanujan saw the Gauss summation theorem in Carr’s Synopsis and it remains a mystery till date as to how in one sweep of intuitive imagination he was able to arrive at the most general summation theorem with only a hint of the Gauss summation theorem (Eqs. 4.4 and 4.11 in Chap. 4 ) for a terminating hypergeometric series, viz. the 7 F 6(1) summation theorem (22) stated at the end of Chap. 4
