A chapter in Strategic Management, Decision Theory, and Decision Science, 2021, pp 21-31 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Considering the secretary selection problem as a non-sequential decision problem formulated in terms of a non-linear integer programming exercise, the role of Expected Net Gain due to Sampling has been taken as the objective function to work out a reasonable solution. A generalized version of an earlier formulation involving total cost as the objective function has been indicated and extended to the case of selecting a panel, instead of a single candidate. The case of multiple rankings of the interviewed candidates to arrive at the ‘best’ candidate has been examined in terms of several approaches.
