Chapter Chapter 1 in Shifting Patterns of Agricultural Trade, 2021, pp 1-19 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The business environment nowadays is characterized by increasing complexity, uncertainty, and discontinuity. The COVID-19 outbreak and its rapid spread caught many governments and agricultural producers by surprise. Many of the initial measures were expected to impact negatively on the agricultural sector. But agriculture has shown resilience, with a trade performance that has fared better than other sectors. The chapter offers a holistic approach to assessing patterns of agricultural trade. This approach combines historical trends of agricultural trade at different levels of analysis from different perspectives. Data and information which are available are analyzed cross-sectionally and comparatively for decision-making purposes.
