Chapter Chapter 7 in Neoliberalism or Neocollective Rural China, 2024, pp 173-195 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Chapter 6 critically examines Khrushchev’s agricultural reforms in the Soviet Union, contrasting them with the American model. While some Chinese neoliberals argue that Khrushchev’s adoption of the “American Path” facilitated agricultural prosperity, the chapter contends that it resulted in decline. It delves into the prevalence of tenant farming in the US, emphasizing the impact of land monopolies and the distinction between full and partial ownership. Moreover, it highlights the limitations of large-scale tenant farming in promoting modern agricultural development.
