Chapter Chapter 6 in Redesigning the Nursing and Human Resource Partnership, 2022, pp 69-79 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract There is no doubt that performance appraisal is an essential human resource management process to improve nurses’ performance. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a tremendous challenge in completing performance appraisals in a hospital setting. It has also been questioned whether performance appraisals are needed in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis. This chapter prompts a discussion about the concept of performance appraisal and its model in a hospital context. Some concerns are raised, and recommendations are proposed for consideration.
