Chapter Chapter 5 in The Theory and Application of Multinational Corporate Governance, 2022, pp 75-91 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract As the implementers of MNEs’ global strategies, foreign subsidiaries are of strategic importance to the parent company. Foreign subsidiary governance is a key issue in research into multinational corporate governance. Foreign subsidiaries are embedded in networks composed of host governments, international non-profit organisations (such as environmental protection organisations and local labour unions), partners, customers, and other stakeholders. As a result of this complex range of stakeholders, their governance is much more complicated than domestic corporate governance. Therefore, foreign subsidiary governance merits a separate discussion to which this chapter is devoted.
