Abstract: Abstract As a term with profound implications for human life, culture has developed into a vehicle for self-expression and imagination. Simultaneously, cultural tourism and cultural heritage have become critical components in attracting visitors to Indonesia, raising the question of cultural sustainability. Tourism and culture are increasingly entwined, raising numerous critical problems concerning the destination’s holistic existence. Academics’ concerns about cultural authenticity are growing as the tourist discussion unfolds. Indeed, as transportation technology and modes of mobility progress, the flow of tourists between places becomes increasingly unstoppable. Though it has been criticized as not being “authentically Indonesian”, events infused with technology can provide space and opportunity for culture to thrive. By examining two cultural tourism hotspots in Indonesia (Bali and Yogyakarta), this chapter hopes to shed light on the dynamic growth of culture tourism, which is now inextricably linked to technology. Additionally, this chapter will discuss how cultural events with a technological twist are a source of love and hate in Indonesia. Numerous cultural activities will be presented in Bali and Yogyakarta to hone the prose. Both culture tourism and technology have the potential to be mutually beneficial and supportive.
