The New Rome and the US Exceptionalism
Xiaojiang Zhang
Chapter Chapter 4 in The Industrial Processes of Large Economies, 2022, pp 31-45 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract A history analogy might be made between what Rome was to Greece and what the US is to the UK. Ancient Greece and the more recent UK, lacking arable land and other resources in sufficient quantity, thrived on sea commerce. Strangers that hardly met had to conduct trade transactions hence they put more emphasis on the rule of common law governance.
