A chapter in Arctic Fever, 2022, pp 115-135 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Throughout this chapter the authors focus on the comprehensive assessment of sustainable development of the Russian Arctic in terms of sustainability as a complex characteristic of the state and potential of socioeconomic systems. Various current and emerging (expected) risks for sustainable development of the Russian Arctic are considered, including natural and climate risks, environmental, technological and social risks for its economic development and redevelopment, as well as political, legal, and strategic risks. The paper substantiates socioeconomic priorities for the sustainable development of the Russian Arctic in the macroeconomic, sectoral, and social contexts. The authors pay particular attention to the updated strategy for the development of the Russian Arctic in light of the changes made to federal legislation in 2020.
