Chapter Chapter 4 in Rural Poverty, Growth, and Inequality in China, 2022, pp 83-104 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract A significant decline in poverty is an essential criterion for the assessment of rural economic growth. How to ensure a continuous and rapid improvement of the welfare of the poor in sustained growth is a challenge that all countries face in their development, and it is also an important research issue for pro-poor growth. The point is that pro-poor research is best positioned to judge whether economic growth is beneficial to the poor. If it is not, we need to take a new look at today’s economic development model, analyze the factors that hinder growth from exerting its pro-poor effect, and explore new development paths that are conducive to common prosperity and people’s livelihood under China’s development goal of common prosperity.
