Abstract:
Abstract The rationale for this research was to explore the notion of public acceptability in the Chinese context through particular policy responses to a hypothetical congestion charge in Beijing. The overarching aim of the research was to understand the public acceptability of congestion charging in the Chinese context. This research adds to the knowledge base on the public acceptability of road pricing schemes by investigating this issue in an authoritarian state.
