A chapter in The Palgrave Handbook of Comparative Public Administration, 2022, pp 743-761 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides comparison of selected country cases’ administrative systems: structures, processes, and functions based on comparative framework provided in comparative framework chapter. This chapter is more than a description of a specific government as it aims to compare countries’ public administrations in terms of their administrative culture, structures of central and local governments, civil services, civil society, and administrative reforms voyages by considering main similarities and differences without ignoring unique traits of them. Benefiting from country case comparative framework tables and international data sources, we created the data set to do quantitative comparisons and to test some tentative hypotheses. Our findings show that developed and developing countries have distinct public administration structures, practices, experiences, features, and processes. These differences affect the governance, development, and public service sector experience in these countries.
