Abstract:
Abstract This chapter seeks to review the roots and paths of two public research institutions—ITRIIndustrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of TaiwanTaiwan and KISTKorea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) of KoreaKorea—took to define their functions in their respective national innovation systems. We are particularly interested in the organizational structures that each built to advance their desired activities. This chapter seeks to shed new light on development and science and technology studies. This chapter provides useful insights to those involved in designing organizational structure for a research-oriented entity.
