Abstract Keynes has had a global influence ever since the Treaty of Versailles, when his The Economic Consequences of the Peace (1919) was spread world widely. He was the most important economist of the 20th century. His theory deeply influenced ideas and policies and appears to remain in the mainstream for the foreseeable future.
