Chapter Chapter 15 in China’s Reform: History, Logic, and Future, 2022, pp 189-202 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract China must resolve three problems: that of over-emphasis versus under-emphasis, that of making the people rich and the country strong, and that of maintaining a proper relationship between government and the market and between government and society. To do so, China must establish a modern state governance system based on benign interactions between government, the market, and society. There is no such thing as an entirely laissez-faire free market economy independent of government, since a well-operating market system requires an effective coupling and integration among government, the market, and society.
