Chapter Chapter 5 in Information Retrieval in Bioinformatics, 2022, pp 83-99 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The field of biology has evolved into a data research discipline and an enormous amount of data has been sequenced and is available for synthesis. There is therefore a need for careful storage, organization, synthesis and analysis of large data sets in order to discover relevant knowledge. Thus, information technology and computation techniques are applied to biology to create bioinformatics. Drug development programmes can benefit from clinical studies, electronic medical records, high-resolution images and genomic profiles. Pharmaceutical and medical researchers have access to extensive data sets that can be analysed by artificial intelligence systems (AI).
