Abstract:
Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has hastened the digitalization of pre-flight and in-flight services. Digital advancement has proven to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the supply chain process in airline catering. Digitalization in airline catering is an area that is rarely addressed and discussed in the research, especially in developing countries. Acknowledging this gap, the purpose of this chapter is to emphasize digital advancement from the standpoint of the airline catering sector. The purpose of this chapter is threefold, first is to provide a discussion on the role of digital advancement in the airline catering sector and explain how it helps increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the process. Second, this chapter discusses the current and upcoming digital transformation in airline catering operations; thirdly this chapter provide case analysis of several airline caterers with regards to the implementation of digitalization advancement. This chapter conclude by discussing current studies and opportunity for future studies investigation.
