Chapter Chapter 5 in Sustainability Analytics Toolkit for Practitioners, 2023, pp 75-99 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract It has been estimated that to meet the aspirations of the SDGs, developing countries especially will face a financing gap of $2.5 trillion per year. Public sector contributions will remain indispensable but this may be insufficient to meet the demands across all SDG-related sectors. This will require a step change in private sector contributions which is not freed from challenges and policy dilemmas which must be addressed. One key question that has been posed by scholars is whether such investments are truly impactful and how do we measure this? This section examines existing frameworks focused on the SDG impact investing.
