Abstract:
Abstract The population structure of China will age rapidly from the present to the mid-twenty-first century. Estimated by average conditions, the measuring indicators for the aging of the population structure will rise sharply: the proportion of the population aged 65 and above will rise from 8.8% in 2010 to more than 28% in 2055; the elderly dependency ratio will rise from 11.9% in 2010 to 50% in 2055; and the median age will rise from 34.6 in 2010 to over 45 in 2037. Moreover, the aging trend of the population will continue for a long time.
