Ideas and Ideologies
Cameron Gordon
Chapter Chapter 17 in Many Possible Worlds, 2023, pp 467-494 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract From the beginning industrialisation was a time of great social change in which society itself was becoming unrecognisable from even the relatively recent past, and the experience of the individual within it, radically altered as well. These changes in turn changed the ideas that permeated society and helped create new secular systems of ideas called ideologies. This chapter describes some of these changes and how they in turn might have affected economic growth and development.
