Abstract:
Abstract This chapter presents the curious case of the Islamic banking industry of Pakistan that has revealed a sudden and a significant increase in Musharakah-based financing after 2013 and the adaption process that has induced this meaningful change. The chapter begins with the description of this paradigm shift in the financing portfolio of the overall Islamic banking industry that is characterized by an unexpected surge in the Musharakah-based financing and a shift away from Murabahah-based financing.
