Chapter Chapter 6 in Tourism Products and Services in Bangladesh, 2021, pp 115-133 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Beach tourism, actually as the resort based destination, is attached to the development of modern tourism because of the strangeness and danger of beaches gradually transformed into pleasure and recreation. Bangladesh is a country with number of natural beaches and needs to be aware about the possible effects of the global climate change. The country having the sea border facing the Bay of Bengal is said to have numerous sea beaches that can promote tourism and attract millions of tourists every year with Cox’s Bazar and Kuakata as the example. Beach tourism as a form of recreation is one of the earliest modern tourism types and a key player of the tourism industry. This tourism type at coastal resorts is very often regarded as an outcome from an unavoidable attraction to the beach. But satisfying increasingly conscious tourists having changing demand with beaches as the only offering become tougher day by day. This research aims to provide a brief outline to help both promoting and diversifying tourism in beaches in Bangladesh. This research mainly relied on reviewing both published and online resources. Findings reveal that there are many sea beaches in the country and the type of tourism products and services that these beaches can offer can be diversified. This chapter therefore presents a general model of beach tourism product and a conceptual framework for beach tourism product and service offer diversification in Bangladesh. Besides, this research suggests that products and services development, marketing and promotion for beach tourism need to be based on proper demand and supply research.
