Abstract:
Abstract There are different degrees of interlinkages between railway transportation and economic and social aspects, mainly reflected in the interaction with industrialization and urbanization. Through panel VAR model and impulse response function, the paper studies the impact of provincial-level railway transportation on industrialization and urbanization in the east, central, and western regions in China, and the reverse impacts the latter two factors have on the former one. Results show that the impact of railway transportation on industrialization and urbanization and the relationship between the latter two on the former are different from region to region. Different regions should put different emphases on giving impetus to urbanization and industrialization by promoting the development of railway transportation.
