Abstract: Abstract In this chapter examines architecture strategy as the structural mechanism that enables ADX to function at the system level. While Chap. 4 focused on organizational competences, this chapter explains how product architecture and system design translate those competences into operational coherence. Digital technologies increase the degree of interdependence among products, processes, and organizational units, making architectural design a central strategic concern. This chapter introduces the Architecture-Based View (ABV), which emphasizes how the arrangement of system components and interfaces influences coordination costs, learning processes, and performance outcomes. In this perspective, architecture determines how technological competence, market competence, and linkage competence interact within the organization. Modular–integral design choices, interface governance, and system integration therefore become critical mechanisms through which analog routines and digital infrastructures co-evolve. This chapter concludes that architecture strategy serves as a dynamic renewal mechanism that enables organizations to sustain coordinated learning while adapting to the increasing complexity of digital manufacturing systems.
