Abstract: Abstract The intersection of the study of what is right and wrong and that of production, distribution and consumption of goods and services has been a hot topic, especially in relation to contemporary global capitalism. The traditional view, however, is that the economic concept as a discipline is considered neutral to values concentrating on effectiveness, productivity and accumulation of wealth. However, this has a narrow perspective since these systems have profound implications for human welfare, fairness in society and environmental protection. Mahatma Gandhi was one of the most influential moral philosophers during the twentieth century who spoke against it saying economics must be based on morality.
