Chapter Chapter 14 in Intelligent Logistics Management in Digital Economy, 2025, pp 275-284 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter explores the integration of digital technologies in the logistics and supply chain ecosystem, addressing key challenges such as visibility, inefficiencies, sustainability, risk management, and data security. It highlights the transformation of operational strategies, particularly in transportation and logistics outsourcing, influenced by digital platforms and emerging technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, and blockchain. This chapter examines how online freight platforms and traditional logistics service providers interact and the impact on manufacturers’ logistics decisions. It also delves into showrooming and webrooming phenomena in retail, suggesting scenarios where both online and physical stores can benefit. Additionally, the chapter discusses the use of blockchain in reverse logistics to address risks in remanufacturing and enhance consumer trust. The research underscores the importance of digital transformation, collaborative networks, and sustainable practices for creating a resilient, transparent, and agile supply chain ecosystem.
