Abstract: Abstract This chapter is based on the article “Blockchain privacy and regulatory compliance: Towards a practical equilibrium” by Vitalik Buterin, Jacob Illum, Matthias Nadler, Fabian Schär, and Ameen Soleimani, published in Blockchain: Research and Applications in 2024 ( https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bcra.2023.100176 ). Fabian, a professor of Distributed Ledger Technology (Blockchain) and Fintech at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel, and Matthias Nadler, also with University of Basel, kindly agreed to summarize their joint research. Fabian serves as the corresponding author for this chapter.
