Chapter Chapter 4 in Advancing IT Interoperability and Trade Facilitation in Southeast Asia, 2026, pp 111-150 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Building upon foundational concepts introduced earlier, particularly the RDE Framework and RDE Flywheel, this chapter evaluates the practical implementation and impact of digital trade solutions among ASEAN Member States (AMS). In the rapidly evolving digital economy, ASW has emerged as a critical mechanism facilitating seamless cross-border trade among ASEAN Member States (AMS). This chapter explores in detail the implementation and impact of information technology (IT) solutions within the ASW framework, highlighting the real-world experiences of Singapore’s TradeNet, Malaysia’s National Single Window (NSW), and INSW. By examining these national case studies, the chapter provides comprehensive insights into how advanced technologies and strategic policy integration can significantly enhance trade facilitation across the region. Emphasis is placed on identifying successful strategies, addressing implementation challenges, and underscoring crucial cybersecurity and data governance measures. Through this focused analysis, policymakers, business leaders, and IT practitioners can derive actionable insights, guiding continuous improvement, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and maintaining adherence to international best practices essential for achieving the strategic objectives of the ASW.
