Abstract: Abstract Since 1986, Vietnam has achieved rapid economic development through the Doi Moi policy of a gradual transition to a market economy and the opening its economy to the outside world. Vietnam stands as a successful example of quality growth, marked by inclusiveness, resilience, and sustainability. First, in terms of inclusiveness, Vietnam has achieved both high economic growth and rapid poverty reduction, resulting in a more equitable society. Second, in terms of resilience, the country has enjoyed positive economic growth since 1986, supported by a wide range of drivers of economic growth and the benefits of opening up to the outside world. Third, with regard to sustainability, Vietnam has pursued successful, labor-intensive and export-led economic growth while steadily shifting its economic structure from agriculture to higher value-added industries. To sustain quality growth into the future, Vietnam must address poverty among ethnic minorities, rising inequality, and economic vulnerabilities such as exposure to external shocks and non-performing loans. There is also a need to reassess its economic growth model, productivity improvement, institutional reforms that have been delayed, environmental protection, and other related concerns.
