Chapter 6 in Infrastructure Project Completion, 2026, pp 105-118 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The need for paradigm shifts in contract management towards a collaborative approach, and importance of treating contractors as partners rather than adversaries are the key for successful project management. The successful project delivery depends on mutual trust, shared vision and long-term commitment between clients and contractors. Informal partnering can be different from legal bindings. Focusing on moral commitment and open communication is the foundation for effective collaboration. The practical strategies of joint site visits, periodical progress reviews and partnership charters are to enhance collaboration and resolve conflicts.Through real-world anecdotes and survey findings, the write-up demonstrates that collaborative partnerships lead to superior project outcomes, especially in complex, high-risk or mega projects. Willingness to trust, empathically listen and align organizational cultures are essential for achieving maximum benefit and successful project delivery in contract management.
