Abstract: Abstract The previous chapter presented an overview of the birth of early cooperatives. Modeled after cooperatives formed in post-Industrial Revolution market economies, this chapter characterizes and classifies several types of cooperative firms, along with capitalist firms, using the concept of ownership shares in a firm.
