Chapter Chapter 3 in The Palgrave Handbook of Breakthrough Technologies in Contemporary Organisations, 2025, pp 27-39 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter undertakes a comprehensive literature review on the factors influencing the dissemination of information and technology across nations, without focusing on any specific country. Through systematic analysis of current research, the review identifies several critical challenges and implications for leaders and practitioners These include the necessity of providing complete and timely information, understanding the impact of IT systems on organisational efficiency, structure, transparency, and relationships, addressing limitations in computer-based information systems, fostering change and innovation, staying current with technological advancements, and ensuring the proper use of technology through effective communication of policies. Nevertheless, it is crucial to report that quantifying the benefits of IT is challenging, as they underpin numerous organisational processes. The review concludes by highlighting areas for future research in ICT management.
