Chapter Chapter 20 in A Theoretical Foundation for Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship, 2025, pp 199-207 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract As industries undergo rapid evolution and the innovation landscape shifts, ventures are increasingly prioritizing innovation-driven entrepreneurship. These ventures view entrepreneurial orientation (EO) as a pivotal navigation tool for guiding their entrepreneurial pursuits (Dong et al., Industrial Marketing Management 88:173–185, 2020). EO emerges as a foundational concept for comprehending the strategic choices of these emerging enterprises and elucidating the micro-foundations of innovation-driven entrepreneurship. Notwithstanding its significance, the exploration of EO within the realm of innovation-driven entrepreneurship remains scant. This deficiency primarily stems from the present framing of EO, which is constrained in scope. Specifically, the existing framing neglects the intricate multilevel and multi-agent interactions inherent in entrepreneurial endeavors. These interactions often transcend organizational confines, extending even to the broader ecosystem level. To bridge this knowledge gap, a comprehensive review of EO within the entrepreneurship domain is imperative. Such a review promises to offer fresh perspectives that can reframe our understanding of EO and enhance our appreciation for its profound importance in driving innovation-focused entrepreneurial ventures.
