Abstract:
Abstract The simultaneous pursuit of financial inclusion and sustainability for the environment sustainability has become a global priority in recent years, and its significance extends to various regions across the world. In African countries, the intertwined challenges of financial inclusion and sustainability for the environment provides a compelling area for comprehensive analysis. Despite recent advancements in financial services and increasing awareness of environmental concerns, a substantial portion of their population remains excluded from formal financial systems, while environmental sustainability initiatives encounter various obstacles. This chapter explores the association of financial inclusion and sustainability for the environment of African continent. The chapter investigates the degree to which financial inclusion initiatives have contributed to environmental sustainability, focusing on variables such as access to financial services, renewable energy financing, and sustainable business practices. Through an extensive literature review, hypotheses development, and data analysis, this study attempts to offer fresh insight about novel attributes of the association of financial inclusion and sustainability for the environment across 54 African nations. The findings offer valuable understandings for policymakers, financial institutions, and environmental advocates, enabling them to develop effective strategies that promote both financial inclusion and ecological preservation.
