Abstract: Abstract Since the reform and opening up, China has achieved remarkable economic growth and social progress, which enabled ongoing improvements in overall national strength and standard of living. As the country looked beyond basic necessities for its people and sought moderate prosperity, consumer spending underwent profound structural changes, as reflected by the declining share of income spent on food and more sophisticated needs for education, culture, and entertainment.
