Abstract:
Abstract Economic development has generated the intensification of urbanization, the increase in standard of living and consumerism, the negative externalities being increasingly felt on environment. At the international level, there is a major discrepancy regarding the recycling rate, Europe being on the first place. Unfortunately, the situation of recycling rate at the level of the European countries is not uniform, major differences countries being registered. For this reason, the analysis of the factors that favours e-waste recycling process can offer public authorities solutions that will reduce the negative externalities of human activity on environment. The aim of this chapter is to explore the factor which influence on the e-waste recycling rate for 22 developed countries of Europe (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, UK) over the period 2010 to 2019. For empirical investigation, POLS and fixed effect Dirscoll-Karray standard error estimation method were applied. The results indicate that green investment, research and developing expenditure along with regulatory compliance rates are most important factors for e-waste management.
