Abstract:
Abstract This study explores the concepts, types, and economic impacts of external shocks and foreign direct investment (FDI). External shocks, defined as sudden and unexpected economic disturbances, have historically influenced national economies, from the discovery of gold in nineteenth-century Australia to oil price fluctuations in the twentieth century. These shocks, categorized into internal, seasonal, structural, and external types, significantly affect economic stability and growth. Simultaneously, FDI plays a pivotal role in fostering economic development in developing nations by providing capital, technology, and managerial expertise. The research highlights the intricate relationship between external shocks and FDI, analyzing how these phenomena shape global economic dynamics, influence policy-making, and drive sustainable growth. By bridging economic theory with practical insights, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the strategies required to mitigate external shocks and optimize the benefits of FDI.
