Chapter Chapter 15 in Green Horizons, 2025, pp 271-286 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into financial planning has been a robust trend, waving ways for organizational thinking and fostering long-term decision-making towards sustainability. Academia as well as industry are weighing the potential implications of Artificial intelligence in financial planning to adhere to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. Artificial intelligence may prove pivotal for enhancing the integration of ESG criteria in decisions related to investment. Artificial Intelligence may facilitate more sustainable and responsible portfolios. However, this integration of artificial intelligence in financial planning has been a challenge due to complexities and uncertainties related to ESG Data. This chapter endeavours to explore the implications of artificial intelligence with sustainable financial planning. The chapter explores the transformative roles of artificial intelligence leading to sustainable finance, along with identifying the key challenges in the integration of sustainability into financial planning. The chapter also outlines the ethical dimensions along with the practical implications of artificial intelligence in sustainable financial planning. At the last, the chapter offers recommendations for practitioners and policymakers. By focusing on the right application of artificial intelligence along with strict adherence to ethical principles, financial institutions can play an instrumental role in shifting towards a more sustainable and equitable future.
