Chapter Chapter 4 in Sensible Decision-Making, 2025, pp 167-223 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter underscores the vital role of creativity and imagination in decision-making, particularly in addressing the limitations of rational and systemic approaches. It explores how creative thinking can overcome these constraints, inspiring innovative and unconventional solutions. After introducing abduction (a form of hypothetical reasoning), the chapter presents techniques to enhance creative decision-making and explores frameworks such as knowledge management and design thinking. These frameworks highlight their potential to foster innovation, generate novel ideas, and drive effective problem-solving in dynamic contexts.
