Abstract: Abstract When we employ the concept of Geographically Embedded World Economic Hub to study the four bay areas, similarities across become apparent. First, resources, innovation, and industries are deeply embedded in these areas, which thus become irreplaceable for market participants, talents, and researchers. Second, all four bay areas are domestically rooted but globally connected through economic opening, a key feature of the Hub. In this book, this feature is reflected in three open systems that are critical to technological innovation, namely, an open science, education, and talent system, an open enterprise system, and an open financial system. Lastly, all these areas have significant influence on the global geopolitical and economic landscape as they may serve as either flashpoints for geopolitical and economic crises or anchors for nations to navigate through such crises and to drive development.
