Chapter Chapter 3 in Women's Economic Empowerment and Wellbeing, 2025, pp 29-48 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Women are known to be skilled jugglers. They can juggle various tasks, and still be good at them. As wives, women have been portrayed in diverse images—as flawlessly dressed women who are adept at managing household chores, as caring mothers skillful at nurturing their children, as fantastic cooks producing hot and delicious meals for their families, and as thriving career women. Women are expected to multitask, and to juggle their multiple roles because they complete the family expectation of the perfect wife. Women are supposed to have it all. However, does this picture hold true for all women? Does having it all means that the women are happy? What about their individuality? Being a good wife may be the dream for many women, but not all women share the same dream because some suffer from identity crisis. Their struggles go unnoticed. This chapter, therefore, focusses on both sides of the coin by exploring how women’s experience with identity crisis affects their wellbeing.
