Abstract: Abstract Chapter 5 relates to the Culture of Science. What was the overall cultural environment experience for women in science? What was the acceptable norm of behaviour of their male colleagues toward women in the laboratory? the observatory? Or the classroom? Did these women ever experience situations in science when they felt disadvantaged or targeted NOT because they were a woman but rather because of the negative culture of the community who received their research ideas and labelled the research unacceptably controversial in nature?
