Abstract: Zusammenfassung Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis (P. C. Mahalanobis) wurde am 29. Juni 1893 in der Stadt Kalkutta in einer kultivierten und gebildeten bengalischen brahmanischen Familie geboren. Sein Vater Prabodh Chandra war ein künstlerischer Mensch mit einer besonderen Liebe zur Malerei. Beruflich war er jedoch mit der familieneigenen Apotheke verbunden.
