Chapter Chapter 2 in Decision-making in High-Risk Projects, 2024, pp 13-20 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This part analyzes information-gathering behaviors for decision-making regarding the promotion of nuclear energy, as introduced in Chap. 1. Specifically, it focuses on the existence of decision-making entities and entities expected to gather information for conducting business and assessing risks in the process. Using a model, it aims to analyze how the institutional relationship between the two parties influences the behavior of risk assessment. A body of research on communication between informed experts and uninformed DMs has investigated the optimal decisions for DMs, while relying on the agent’s information. In particular, studies that analyze the incentives for experts to spend costs to acquire information address issues similar to those addressed in this study. As such, the model constructed in the prior literature is similar to the model in this study. However, the model in this study differs in several respects for the purpose of decision-making based on risk assessment. The model analysis in this study is not a simple application to decision-making problems involving nuclear energy.
