Chapter Chapter 10 in Value-driven Management for International Development and Aid Projects, 2024, pp 119-132 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter explores the pivotal role of donors in International Development and Aid Projects (IDAPs) against the backdrop of complex socio-political contexts. Beginning with a personal reflection on recent regional conflicts in the Middle East, particularly in Jordan, the chapter examines the critical importance of effectively managing donor relationships. It outlines strategies for navigating donor expectations, balancing their agendas with local realities, and ensuring alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Practical insights cover diverse contexts from emergency responses to nexus and pure development programming, emphasizing rapid needs assessments, resilience-building frameworks, and stakeholder engagement strategies. The chapter concludes by proposing systematic project management processes to integrate donor management effectively into IDAPs, fostering transparency, accountability, and sustained donor support.
