Chapter Chapter 4 in Value-driven Management for International Development and Aid Projects, 2024, pp 37-48 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter introduces the critical need for strategic alignment in International Development and Aid Projects (IDAPs), highlighting inefficiencies and geopolitical dynamics that often hinder their effectiveness. It emphasizes the imperative of redirecting IDAPs to better serve the interests of target populations amidst challenges like limited fund reach and foreign resource utilization. The chapter underscores the importance of aligning IDAPs with national development plans, crisis response strategies, and global development goals like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Practical strategies and tools are discussed to integrate these alignments from project inception through implementation, aiming for sustainable outcomes and increased accountability. Overall, this chapter sets the stage for subsequent discussions on optimizing IDAP effectiveness through comprehensive strategic planning and execution.
