Chapter Chapter 3 in Sharing Economy Platforms, 2024, pp 21-31 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter delves into the intricacies of value creation within Sharing Economy Platforms (SEPs), emphasizing the role of co-creation in redefining interactions between consumers and suppliers. By analyzing models such as Pinduoduo, the chapter illustrates how SEPs facilitate innovative market dynamics that contrast sharply with traditional business frameworks, offering economic, social, and environmental benefits. It explores the mechanisms through which technology and community engagement drive the co-creative processes, and evaluates the challenges and limitations inherent in these platforms. Regulatory issues, market competition, and trust are identified as significant hurdles. This chapter not only highlights the transformative potential of SEPs but also underscores the complexity of scaling and sustaining these models in the face of evolving economic landscapes.
